The Monmouth Conservation Foundation purchased this 122-acre productive farm from Earl Tindall in Upper Freehold. One hundred twelve acres of the rich, fertile fields were placed in the Farmland Preservation Program permanently restricting the land to agricultural use only and 10 acres were transferred to the Monmouth County Park System as an addition to Walnford Park.
MCF managed the rental of the farmland for eight years. On October 17, 1997, the Foundation transferred title of the Tindall Farm in a land swap transaction. The Foundation swapped the Tindall Farm, with restrictions in place, for Walnford Field Farms, a 90-acre property, together with a scenic easement on 19.75 acres of Fair Winds Farm to protect the entrance to Walnford Park. Upon completion of the swap both the land and the easement were sold to the County.
