Monmouth Conservation Foundation provided assistance to the Township of Howell in acquiring several lots owned by Eugene and Richard Murray. This land helped to create a link between the Bear Swamp Natural Area and the Allaire State Park.

MCF signed an option agreement for purchase of the property, which was exercised in December of 1996. Closing took place in 1997.
