This hilltop paradise was home to four generations of the Rockefeller family, beginning with the philanthropist John D. Rockefeller, founder of Standard Oil. In his day, he was the richest man in America. Now a historic site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, this extraordinary landmark has been continuously and meticulously maintained for more than 100 years.

We will tour the outstanding landscape and sculpture through all of Kykuit’s spectacular gardens, including the Italian garden and Adam and Eve fountain area, the terraced gardens featuring classical and contemporary sculpture from Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller’s exceptional collection of 20th-century sculpture featuring Pablo Picasso, Henry Moore, Alexander Calder, Louise Nevelson, and David Smith, among many others. The underground art galleries with Governor Rockefeller’s collection of Picasso tapestries, is also part of the experience, as well as the grotto, an unusual “underground” space tucked beneath the Temple of Venus.

Additionally, the tour will include the main rooms of the six-story stone house.

Our guide will share many stories that highlight the lives of Rockefeller family members and their significant contributions to philanthropy, conservation, business, government, and the arts.

Please note: This tour is not wheelchair accessible and involves climbing stairs and a lot of walking over uneven surfaces. Children are not permitted.

*Typically Kykuit is closed to all tours on Mondays, however we have a terrific friend who has accessed the property exclusively for Monmouth Conservation Foundation for this VIP tour. We hope you can join us!
