Hortulus Farm is a member of Greater Philadelphia Gardens and was honored in 2014 by The Garden Conservancy, the nation’s most important garden preservation organization, as only the second affiliate garden in the Conservancy’s history.
The Farm’s gardens, although based in part on English models, are decidedly American in personality, the farm’s pure and profoundly American architecture being the inspiration for those gardens. Gracious greenswards and meandering paths, passing between ponds and over bridges, loosely connect more than 20 individual gardens that surround the “village” of buildings at the center of the farm. These include a breathtaking woodland walk, lush perennial and summer borders, dramatic allees, a spectacular potager, Mediterranean and topiary gardens, and a stunning pool garden, all suitably enhanced with statuary, follies, and water features.
The beautiful classic stone home (built between 1723 and 1793), situated at the center of the 100 acre property, is on the U.S. Registry of Historic Places’ official list of the Nation’s historic places worthy of preservation. Following your private tour with Renny & Jack, you will enjoy a gourmet picnic box lunch prepared by Sickles Market. After lunch there will be time to explore more of the gardens, or tour Hortulus Farm’s vast nursery and greenhouses!

Please note all garden tour attendees should plan to meet at the farthest end of Navesink Country Club, 50 Luffburrow Lane Middletown, New Jersey, where the luxury bus will be parked. Simply drive to the far end of the parking lot and park near the Academy Bus which you should board upon arrival.
